Movie Review : HO MANN JAHAN ہو من جہاں - The Movie we can all relate to very well !

16:35

Truly tiered of bogus and over rated bollywood movies , I was so looking forward for the release of talk of the town these days - the comeback of Pakistani Cinema Asim Raza's HO MANN JAHAN

Our Pakistani dramas are far better then Indian ones , but I so wanted our movies to beat the Indian ones . If not in budget , then at least in good acting and strong script .

Before reviewing the movie , I must appreciate the efforts of the marketing and promotional team of the Film . They truly succeeded in creating not only the hype of the movie but also maintaining it till the last moment . You can see people dancing and celebrating the Shakar wandaan song which just spread like a storm on the social media .

Now coming back to the movie . It was truly my honor to attend the Lahore premier of HO MANN JAHAN and share my thoughts about it .

Plot

Ho Mann Jahaan is a coming of age urban story set in present day Karachi. The film revolves around three main characters – Arhan (Sheheryar Munawar), Manizeh (Mahira Khan) and Nadir (Adeel Husain). The story is about their friendship born out of shared experiences, passion for music and aspiration for fame. Sonya Jehan plays the role of Sabina, a powerful independent character symbolizing strength and wisdom. The film is also a reflection of the current dichotomy that exists in our society where we talk of free will but readily accept conformity.Parents impose restrictions and dictate terms, because they love their children but at times don't understand them. This is a film of many layers, connecting to both younger as well as the older generation.

Production

The film was primarily shot in Karachi, and some parts were shot in the northern areas of Pakistan . The film was shot using two Alexa cameras with two camera units. The film's first teaser was released on March 25, 2015where the cast and crew got together for a press event at the films largest and one of the industry’s most expensive sets.

Soundtrack

The soundtrack was digitally released on November 1, 2015. It comprises a total of ten songs by various artists. The album contains only three original tracks, written by Asim Raza; the rest of the songs were re-recorded by artists who had previously performed them. The album was produced by Faakhir and Ehtisham Malick at ET studios. The song "Khush Piya" was dedicated to Malika Pukhraj by Tina Sani.

My Thoughts About It :

HO MANN JAHAN 's opening was strong and convincing as Mahira was literally glowing with all her beauty on the huge screen.

As the story starts you can see some strong performances though some scenes are extra long .

Totally different from Mahira's last few characters , she looked  more mature in her acting and truly justifying the young and strong character of Manizeh. She is a total beauty on the screen and the most powerful in her performance as compared to the two boys.

You cn see Adeel Hussain as Nadir and Sheheryar Munawar as Arhan in the movie . Both were looking not only handsome in the movie but also made us fll in love with them . Sonya Jehan plays a role of Sabina .. a character we all neeed in our lives.

You can see some strong performances , good music and  convincing message with few surprising appearances in the movie.

The story is about the journey of three friends . Being young they have high dreams and as the step into the real world how things get harder and the true realities of life hit them hard . As if this wasn't enough , their parents discourage  criticise and reject their dreams ( something typical of our desi Parents) . I guess the story being this real made as relate to the characters and made our eyes wet with their grieves.

Film may have some minor flaws but overall its a story that we can all relate to ( totally diff then stupid stories, un realistic action scenes of mostly bollywood movies ) .

Ho Mann Jahan is a true come back of Pakistani Educated Cinema ... I am among those people who supports and appreciate the efforts of our Paistani people with all their limited budget and resources rather then appreciating the foreign nonsense .

HO MANN JAHAN is a movie with a strong message and story we all can relate to . Its a Must Watch !

Hope you like my first ever movie review . DO share your thoughts after watching it .

Have a happy and blessed 2016 .

Stay healthy and happy
